OUR FLEET

STEAM LOCOMOTIVES

Between the years of 1993 and 1997, Turistren acquired 9 abandoned steam locomotives from the courtyards of the old railroad workshops in order to analyze which could be restored and brought back to life. All locomotives were the same brand in order to be able to use the spare parts from one to another

To the date we have rehabilitated and restored 5 locomotives which are in perfect operation.

Locomotive # 8

Turistren fleet current #08 Steam Locomotive was originally # 03 of the “Ferrocarril del Norte” and covered the route Bogota – Chiquinquira – Barbosa. It was manufactured in 1921 by Baldwin in Philadelphia, United States, Its type 2-6-0.

Turistren fleet current #72 Steam Locomotive was originally #72 of the “Ferrocarril de Antioquia” and It covered several routes around Colombia. It was manufactured in 19947 by Baldwin in Philadelphia, United States, Its type 2-8-2.

Turistren fleet current #76 Steam Locomotive was originally #10 of the “Division Central de Cundinamarca” and It covered the route Ambalema – Ibague. It was manufactured in 1947 by Baldwin in Philadelphia, United States, Its type 4-8-0.

Turistren fleet current #85 Steam Locomotive was originally #85 of the “Ferrocarriles del Pacifico” and It covered several routes around Colombia. It was manufactured in 1947 by Baldwin in Philadelphia, United States, Its type 2-8-2.

 

DIESEL LOCOMOTIVES

Turistren, has at the moment two Diesel locomotives, number 711 and number 723, which are in perfect condition and fully operating being the newest of the company.

Turistren fleet current #711 diesel locomotive, was manufactured by General Electric and assembled by Babcock & Wilcox on the year of 1969 in Spain, Its type U10-B with a Caterpillar motor type D398B and it has 1.000 HP.

Locomotive # 601

The Diesel Locomotive # 601 of the Turistren fleet was manufactured by General Electric and assembled in Spain in 1969 by Babcock & Wilcox. It is of type U10-B with a Caterpillar diesel engine of type D398B and has 1,000 HP, its traction capacity is up to 30 cars.

AUTO FERRIES

Turistren currently owns two auto ferries, numbers 1723 and 1676, made by A.S.J. Jonkoping. Both of them are completely repaired, rehabilitated and in full operation.

Turistren fleet current #1723 auto ferry was manufactured by A.S.J. Jonkoping, on the year of 1958 in Sweden. After being fully rehabilitated, it’s working with a vertical diesel motor.

Diesel Auto ferry # 1696 of the Turistren fleet was manufactured by A.S.J. Jonkopin in Sweden in 1958. It was completely rebuilt by Turistren, initially it operated with a horizontal engine but when it was refurbished it was fitted with a Cummins vertical diesel engine.
